Giovanni Conti

Born in 1996, prize winner at the 13th edition of the Premio Guido Cantelli and first prize at the CAMPUS Dirigieren competition, Giovanni Conti began his musical studies at the Liceo musicale in Varese, his hometown. He studied conducting first in Milan, then in Stuttgart. He took part in masterclasses with Riccardo Muti and Daniele Gatti. From the season 2026/27 he will assume the role of Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Donatella Flick Conducting Competition with the LSO

Giovanni was selected to participate in the 18th edition of the prestigious Donatella Flick Conducting Competition, gaining the opportunity to conduct the London Symphony Orchestra. This year’s competition will also be the subject of a documentary produced for Sky Arts.

Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin

Starting with the 2026/27 season, Giovanni will join the team of the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Kapellmeister, beginning a collaboration with one of the most prestigious opera houses in Germany and Europe.

Last season at the Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach

The 2025/26 season will be Giovanni's fourth and final one at Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach as Kapellmeister. Among the opera titles he will conduct are La bohème by Puccini, Pagliacci by Leoncavallo, and Elias by Mendelssohn, as well as a symphonic concert featuring Mendelssohn's Fourth Symphony and Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez.
